It’s a daily task to hire an auto to get to the office. Though the office is not too far from my home but it entails a lot of effort to cover even such a small distance. Huge Traffic near Cyber Towers is the most difficult hurdle. A sea of small and big vehicles will make every attempt to block all the spaces available. If you want to avoid this traffic, there is an alternative road but you must be prepared for a bumpy ride. This makes every day a difficult day to start with. The Government has already shirked its responsibility by not planning in advance. So, no use of cursing those bloody (replace this word with any filthy word you can think of, still won’t suffice. I have no intention of using any unparliamentary word) babus. I wish i have a vehicle that can fly atleast a km so that I can bypass this traffic somehow.
The problem doesn’t end here (atleast for me). I have to first look for an auto after walking for 10 mins. This job is not that easy. The word Hi-tech city is a repellant for most of the auto-drivers. Some demand fare that itself is unfair. Meter is a show-piece for these maniacs who are always ready to offer excuses. These are some favorite dialogues (in typical Hyderabadi fashion), you get to hear very often: “Sahab, return khali aana padta”, “kitna traffic rehta dekho”, “petrol ke bhav badh gaye rehte”, “road kharab hai wo baaju”. After hearing those, I think as if I am responsible for all the mess.
I remember one such incident though there are many. I decided to hire an auto. After some bargaining, we agreed on a fare. After driving 100 meters, the auto driving saw a fellow who was carrying some luggage and waiting for an auto. He stopped the auto and went to him. I didn’t hear anything. After 2-3 mintutes, the auto driver came to me and asked me to hire other auto as he has now decided to take that fellow to earn some extra bucks. I was astonished but i knew that there’s no point falling into an argument with an $%&*$*$. I started looking for another auto and soon one came. He asked me an amount that aggravated my anger but i kept my cool and gave him a good ‘gyan’. As expected, the shameless guy remained unmoved. This is one post describing why one should remain adamant at times.
